Die hard fans of the inimitable Big B seem to have found a successor to the greatest icon of Indian cinema. Though the statement could come as a bit too exaggerated, the opening day Box Office collection of Agneepath points to something of that sort.
The Karan Johar-produced Hrithik Roshan-Sanjay Dutt starrer has set the cash registers exploding, and has amassed Rs 23 crore on Day One. The film that released on January 26th, pushed Salman Khan’s Bodyguard (which took Rs 21 crore) to second place.
The remake of the 1990 cult classic directed by Mukul Anand and starring Amitabh Bachchan has Hrithik stepping into Bachchan’s shoes while Danny’s baddie avatar has been played amazingly well by Sanjay Dutt.
One major aspect about the 1990 flick was that the film flopped though Amitabh was lauded. Now that Johar’s Agneepath has done an amazing opening day, it looks like more popularity is due for all those behind the flick.
According to what we hear, the film was made on an investment of Rs 75 crore. The film saw its satellite rights sold for close to Rs 35 crore, audio rights for around Rs 9 crore and overseas and home video rights for nearly Rs 12 crore. The theatre collections will now make Agneepath 2012’s revelation at the BO.
