Thiruvananthapuram: Chingam 1 proved to be auspicious for the Kerala government with the agreement for the proposed Vizhinjam port being signed with Adani Ports.
The agreement was inked between state Ports Secretary James Varghese and Adani Vizhinjam Port Private Limited CEO Santhosh Kumar Mahapatra in the presence of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Adani Group chief Gautam Adani, at the Durbar Hall of the state secretariat.
Among those present were Kerala Ports Minister K. Babu, Finance Minister K.M. Mani, Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar, and Assembly Speaker N. Sakthan.
The Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport project construction is expected to be completed prior to schedule. Construction is being planned to begin on November 1, the Kerala formation day.
