Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Police Housing and Construction MD Jacob Thomas is in the eye of a storm following his remark on Thursday, on the Vigilance Court’s order for further probe into the bar bribery case.
As a reaction, Kerala DGP Senkumar on Friday criticized Jacob Thomas’ comment saying that Thomas had never been involved in the bar bribery case probe and that it was wrong on his part to comment on the case. Senkumar added that it is not true that Jacob Thomas was removed from the probe.
On Thursday, Jacob Thomas, an officer with DGP rank, lauded the Vigilance Court for performing its duty well, adding that investigations into such cases face several bottlenecks. The probe into the bar bribery case wasn’t different, Jacob Thomas had said.
Following up on Thomas’ statement, DGP Senkumar on Friday said anyone who breaches discipline would invite action. He pointed out that Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau director Vinson M. Paul, who was in charge of the probe, is a police officer of integrity.
Paul had stepped down after the court order for further probe into the case was pronounced.
