Epica Animatica’s First Academy to Come Up in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: EPICA Animatica, a state-of-the-art academy offering courses in Animatronics, 3D and VFX, has been launched by Epica Studios, in association with Italy-based Smartbrands SRL.

The academy, an Indo-Italian joint venture that would focus on international animatronics content development, will have its first facility coming up in Thiruvananthapuram Technopark early next year.

The Thiruvananthapuram academy would be followed up with similar set ups in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai later on. Animatronics is a multi-disciplinary field which integrates anatomy, robots, mechatronics, and puppetry resulting in lifelike animation. An MoU in this regard was signed by Epica CEO Sohan Roy and Smart Brnads CEO Angelo Poggi at the Epica Studio in Technopark. Epica Managing Director Jeemon Pullely was also present.

“The academy division of Epica Animatica will groom young talents in animatronics, and organize twinning programmes that would have foreign faculties and exchange programs to Italy. The academy will conduct courses ranging from six months to one year where in the students will get the opportunity to work on international projects as part of their course curriculum,” said Sohan Roy, CEO, Epica.

“Apart from the academy, we are also involved in 3D content creation for our latest offerings – glasses free 3D TV, tabs and smart phones. We shall also be working with major Hollywood and Bollywood Production companies for their content creation,” said Jeemon Pullely.

Smart Brands SRL is one of the leading studios in Europe that are specialists in Animatronics and associated with a lot of Hollywood and European projects. They will be supporting Epica Animatica with the course curriculum and expert faculties from different parts of the world to conduct sessions on Animatronics and also in content creation. Sohan Roy also announced the launch of Epica Media UK and Epica Italy, in partnership with Smart Brands SRL to collaborate for content creation.
