Kerala HC Flays Vigilance for Not Being Vigilant Enough

Kochi:  Expressing displeasure over the manner in which Vigilance was handling the bar bribery scandal, the Kerala High Court on Monday termed that Vigilance is far from being vigilant.

Considering a plea filed by Bar Hotels Association president Biju Ramesh seeking to nullify the defamation case filed against him by Excise Minister K Babu at the Ernakulam CJM Court, Justice B Kemal Pasha noted that the government needs to clarify whether it is not liable to investigate charges leveled against one of its ministers.

Pointing out that the general public has the right to know the truth regarding the allegations that the minister is facing, Justice Pasha suggested that in case the Vigilance feels that the case cannot be investigated, it should mull over bringing in a different system to carry in with the probe.
