Ottapalam: The inauguration of the KINFRA Industrial Park at Ottappalam and the foundation stone laying ceremony of the KINFRA Defence Park, the First Defence Industrial park in the public sector in India, will be done by P K Kunhalikutty, Minister for Industries & IT, at KINFRA Industrial Park Premises, at Ottapalam February 23, 2016.
The Park will be fully equipped to attract investors. Work on the administrative office, roads etc has been completed. Electrical works and a dedicated water supply system will be ready soon. Steps are being taken to offer better amenities for investors and the workforce.
The park would help Ottappalam occupy a key position on the industrial map of Kerala and accelerate the growth of Palakkad district. Kinfra has been operating 22 similar parks across the state, said a KINFRA statement. The Ottappalam park will have common security services, streetlight, rainwater harvesting with potable water supply system, dedicated power supply system, and a green belt.
The government has provided exemption from stamp duty and registration fee for documentation inside the park. There will be a single window clearance system at the park. All permits and licences required from various government agencies and departments are arranged through the park. Entrepreneurs would just have to submit applications together with the required fee at the park office.
KINFRA has already obtained the ‘Final Approval’ from the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Govt of India for the proposal submitted to set up a KINFRA Defence Park, as part of the Make in India- Make in Kerala Project. This project is under the Modified Industrial Infrastructure Up gradation Scheme (MIIUS).
The project envisages providing complete infrastructure facility for the establishment of KINFRA Defence Park. The project is intended to create a Defence Park with all modern common infrastructure facilities exclusively for the component manufacturers of defence Industry with Central Assistance from, Government of India under MIIU Scheme. The scheme is implemented by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion.
KINFRA has earmarked 60 acres of land for setting up Defence Park at Ottappalam, Palakkad with the aim of providing Infrastructure facilities for defence component manufacturers. The land is under the possession of KINFRA and is located adjacent to KINFRA SME Park. The Industrial units in the cluster will be given shared infrastructure facilities for innovative product development.
KINFRA also proposes to develop infrastructure facilities in the proposed Defence Park which includes dedicated power, continuous water supply, communication facilities, offering plug and play arrangement for easy start up of Industrial units at minimum cost and time. It is also being envisaged to create facility for instant global access through a state-of-the-art communication network.
The project cost including land is Rs 231.35 crore, and is expecting a Central assistance of Rs.50 crore. According to KINFRA MD, Dr. G.C. Gopala Pillai, the park could start ventures in one year and reach maximum production in two years.
