Kochi: The AYUSH Department of the government of Kerala has launched the Kerala AYUSH Health Policy, in partnership with YES Bank. The AYUSH Health Policy aims at promoting Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha & Homeopathy sciences of medicine and also position Kerala as the foremost AYUSH state in India and one of the most preferred AYUSH Wellness destination in India and globally.
The Kerala AYUSH Health Policy was released by Ramesh Chennithala, Minister of Home & Vigilance, Shri V S Sivakumar, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Shri K Muraleedharan, MLA, Dr. M Beena, IAS, Secretary of AYUSH, Government of Kerala along with key government officers and key AYUSH industry stakeholders from Kerala.
The pioneering Kerala AYUSH Health Policy defines the vision for the next 10 years. It identifies Strategic Framework & key thrust areas for the development of AYUSH, that include AYUSH Medical Services, Education, Drugs, Tourism, Financial Allocations, Governance, Institutional Mechanism and Regulatory Framework among others.
According to Chief Minister Oomen Chandy, said “I am happy to announce that the Department of AYUSH, Government of Kerala is releasing the ‘Kerala AYUSH Health Policy 2016’, the first state government to launch such policy in the country. This is a significant achievement by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in forming the AYUSH Department and framing a dedicated AYUSH Health Policy. The Government of Kerala would strive to provide the public with right of choice of treatment by offering various systems of medicine including AYUSH.”
Releasing the report, V S Sivakumar, Minister of Health & Family Welfare said “I am pleased to present the Kerala AYUSH Health Policy 2016 which sets a direction for the Kerala AYUSH over the next ten years. This is a remarkable effort by the AYUSH Department in launching the policy within a year of formation of the Department.”
Dr M Beena, Secretary, AYUSH, said “the Kerala AYUSH Health Policy 2016 aims to position Kerala as a visible global brand in AYUSH and establish AYUSH system of medicines as preferred choice of treatment in primary health care. Strategic framework and thrust areas have been identified with a view of meeting the objectives of the policy. I thank the efforts of the National AYUSH Mission (NAM) Kerala as the coordinating agency, YES Bank as the knowledge partner and the committee members for their contribution in framing this policy.
Congratulating the Kerala government for the AYUSH Health Policy and also for being the first state to launch a dedicated AYUSH state policy, Rana Kapoor, Managing Director & CEO, YES Bank, said this milestone policy will mark a new growth phase that will not only position Kerala on the Healthcare & Wellness map of the world, but also showcase the true strength of India’s ancient medicinal sciences to the world. “This pioneering step will indeed lay a strong foundation for realizing the true potential of India’s ancient medicinal sciences that is India’s true strength,” Kapoor added.
