Thiruvananthapuram: Intense rainfall across the state has pushed several parts of Kerala towards flooding and related trouble. Monsoon, which arrived a week late, intensified on Wednesday, and is expected to stay strong till at least Sunday, the MET department has warned.
If the rainfall prevails in the similar state, it would wreak havoc on Kerala. The southern part of the state has already started seeing widespread damage and loss of property. A loss of life incident has also been reported at Idukki district.
Several parts of southern districts including Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam remained waterlogged throughout Thursday. The District collector of Kollam had declared a holiday on Thursday for all educational institutions, except professional colleges.
With the monsoon gaining in strength, it would be tough task for healthcare professionals and the administration to get their act together and prevent the spread of waterborne diseases.
