Kannur: The seventh-international film festival will begin at Kannur town square and district sports council hall on March 23 (tomorrow).
Press Club Film Society Secretary U P Santhosh told mediapersons in Kannur that the Malayalam film “Manhole” directed by Vidhu Vincent, which bags the best Kerala State film award in 2016, will be screened on the inaugural day.
The festival jointly organized by Kannur Press Club Film Society, Federation of Film Societies of India, Informations and Public Relations departments, District Library Council and District Tourism Promotion Council, will run till March 26.
Critic and writer Vijayakrishnan will inaugurate the opening function and director Vidhu Vincent will be the chief guest. Debates related to Malayalam film will also be organised on three days, with a focus on new wave Malayalam cinema.
Malayalam films ‘Neelakuyil’, ‘Swayamvaram’, ‘Vasthuhara’, ‘Piravi’, ‘Cheriyachante Krura Kithyanghal’, Traffic, and Bangladeshi film ‘The Unnamed’ directed by Tauquir Ahamed and Hindi film ‘Parched’ directed by Leena Yadav, ‘The Net’ directed by Kim Ki Duk, ‘I Daniel Blake’ by Ken Loach and Georgia film ‘The President’ directed by Mohsen Makhmalba would also be screened .
