Student’s Murder: Hartal in Alappuzha Tomorrow

Alappuzha: The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has called for hartal in Alappuzha tomorrow following the death of a Plus Two student at Cherthala. Ananthu Asokan, 17, hailing from Pattanakkad, died after allegedly beaten up by his classmates.

Initially, the LDF district committee called for hartal at Cherthala Taluk, but later they decided to conduct it in the district. Cherthala town has been excluded from the hartal considering the festival at Karthyayani Temple.

Meanwhile, the police have taken 10 people including the boy’s classmates in custody in connection with the murder. It’s said that among the arrested people five of them have direct involvement in the case. They had vendetta against Ananthu and they retaliated on the temple premises, police said. All the accused belong to BJP and RSS.
