Minister Kadakampally Calls on Mahija, Promises Legal Aid

Thiruvananthapuram: As part of the State Government’s conciliatory efforts in the Jishnu Pranoy case, Minister for Devaswom, Tourism and Co- Operation Kadakampally Surendran visited the deceased student’s mother Mahija at the Medical College Hospital here today. During his visit, the Minister assured her all possible legal aid to the family. Meanwhile, Mahija asked the Minister to ensure justice for her by arresting the accused in her son’s death.

Jishnu Pranoy’s family also insisted that action should be taken against the policemen who created troubles in front of the DGP office on Wednesday. According to sources, Kadakampally didn’t give any assurance in this regard.

The Minister also visited Mahija’s brother Sreejith, who is also admitted to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the police have instructed Jishnu Pranoy’s sister to end her fast at the earliest, failing to which she will be arrested.

Avishna has been going on a fast at her home in Kozhikode for the last three days. Her relatives and Kudumbasree workers are also staging a sit-in protest near the house.

Avishna, a Class 10 student, is adamant that she will take food only after Mahija ends her fast.
