SFI, ABVP Activists Ransack Vellappally Natesan College

Kayamkulam: The protest march taken out by the ABVP and the SFI towards Vellappally Natesan Engineering College at Kattachira here turned violent and as a result the protesters destroyed the office building.

Though the police blocked the protesters 150 meter away from the college, they broke the police barricade and entered the campus.

Meanwhile, the Grade ASI of Nooranadu police station, Satheesh Kumar, was suspended from service for travelling in the vehicle of the college authorities.

He had travelled in the vehicle of the college management Chairman and accused in the case, Subhash Vasu, while going to take statement in the case.

Tension prevailed in the college following the suicide attempt of a student, who was allegedly scolded by the college authorities for eating food from outside. The Grade ASI was going to investigate this case in the vehicle of college authorities.

Meanwhile, the SFI has decided to stage protest demanding action against the management for torturing students. A second case also has been registered against Subhash Vasu. Interestingly, SNDP General Secretary Vellappally Natesan has no direct connection with the college though it bears his name.

There were complaints earlier regarding the ill-treatment of students by the management. A strike was organised by the students recently alleging that the college management had threatened the students who questioned the management’s action of reducing the internal marks.
