Guard at Jaya’s Kodanadu Estate Found Murdered

Chennai: In a shocking incident, one of the security guards at the Kodanadu estate of the late Chief Minister, J. Jayalalithaa, in the hilly Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu, was found murdered and another guard injured, following an alleged robbery bid, early this morning.

Police said the deceased was identified as Om Bahadur, 51, who was hacked to death by the gang.

The injured security guard Krishna Bahadur, who was found tied with a rope near the gate, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Both of them hailed from Nepal. In a statement to the police, Krishna said the incident took place at Gate Number ten of the estate, when a 10- member gang barged into the estate.

He said since he and his fellow security man resisted them, they were attacked with lethal weapons.

Om Bahadur was killed on the spot. Police quoting preliminary investigations said the two security guards have resisted a robbery attempt in the highly-guarded estate, which was once a beehive of activity whenever Ms Jayalalithaa comes for a sojourn.

Except for the security guard and some workers, the estate was devoid of any activity after the death of Ms Jayalalithaa.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.
