Thiruvananthapuram: Adv. A. Sampath MP inaugurated the State’s biggest Skill Development Centre of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal VikasYojana (PMKVY) at Pothencode here yesterday. PMKVY is the flagship scheme of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE).
Built in 15,500 sq.ft area, the Centre has been set up by e-Tech Education & Skill Development. Way-line Management Consultants is the training partner, who will support e-Tech Education to enable a large number of youth to take up industry-relevant skills training.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Sampath said, “There are a lot of employment opportunities in niche segments in various sectors in India and abroad. More than 250 courses under PMKVY cater to many of these niche segments. So it’s a great opportunity for the youths of Kerala especially from rural areas to study these courses and find employment opportunities in India as well as abroad.”
e-Tech Managing Director Noushad A R. said, “The PMKVY Scheme is aiming at providing skills training to around 3,000 youths in each district this year. On successful completion they will be placed in reputed organisations in India and abroad.”
PMKVY, which was launched under the aegis of National Skills Development Corporation, has over 250 skills development courses including Assistant Electrician, CCTV Installation Technician, Front Office Associate, Documentation Assistant, Tailor, Field Technician, Computing and Peripherals etc.
The Central government will bear the expenses of the courses. Youngsters between the age group 18 and 35 years can apply.
