Truck Drivers’ Strike to Hit LPG Distribution from May 2

Thiruvananthapuram: As truck drivers are set to begin their strike demanding for rise in wages from Tuesday, the LPG distribution in the State will be halted.

The drivers resort to strike as their discussions with the Additional Labour Commissioner have come a cropper. The strike will affect distribution from the six gas plants in the State tomorrow.

Around 1,500 drivers are participating in the strike. This will create chaos in Kerala, and there are efforts to hold discussions with the strikers, according to reports.

Earlier, discussions were held more than 10 times for making a long-term agreement regarding the wages of LPG truck drivers. But both the parties couldn’t reach a consensus.
