Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Revenue Minister E. Chandrashekaran today said in the Assembly that Idukki district tops in most number of land encroachments.
Replying to a question in this regard by P.C. George of Kerala Janapaksham during question hour, the Minister said 370 hectares of land have been encroached in different parts of the State.
According to the data available with the department, 81 hectares of land have been encroached in Wayanad district, 71 hectares in Thiruvananthapuram, 31 hectares in Ernakulam, 11 hectares in Kollam, 1.82 hectares in Pathanamthitta, 8 hectares in Alapuzha, 8 hectares in Kottayam, 14 hectares in Palakkad, 5 hectares in Kozhikode , 22 hectares in Kasargod and 110 acres of government land has been encroached in Idukki.
“Major encroachments by Kannan Devan Hills (KDH), Zachariah Vellukunnel and Cyril. P. Jacob were also reported in Idukki,” he added.
