INA Cadet from Kerala Dies

Kannur: Twenty-six-year-old cadet Gudeppa Sooraj, son of Gudeppa Ramana of Tanur in Malapuram district in Kerala, attending a first term Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) died today at the Pariyaram Medical College Hospital (PMCH).

The INA cadet was found in an unconscious and unresponsive state on the floor of academic wing of the academy by a duty sailor instructor yesterday evening. He was immediately rushed to the ICU of Indian Naval Hospital Navjivani and administered IV Fluid resuscitation.

He was later shifted to the PMCH along with a medical specialist and medical assistants. The cadet developed two episodes of cardiac arrest at the PMCH. All efforts to revive the cadet by the medical specialist failed and he was declared dead at 230 PM today.

The next of kin of the deceased has been informed and an Inquiry has been ordered by Southern Naval Command on the incident, an INA release said.
