Thiruvananthapuram: A fisherman, who was mauled by a pack of stray dogs in the coastal village of Pulluvila in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala, succumbed to injuries at a hospital this morning.
Fifty two-year-old Joslin, who was waiting on the beach for other fishermen to arrive, was attacked by stray dogs at around 11 30 PM yesterday. Though he jumped into the sea to save himself from the attack, the dogs mauled him badly.
The seriously injured fisherman was rushed to the hospital by the local people. Medical College Hospital sources said he succumbed to injuries at 530 am today. The tragic incident occurred in the same locality where a 65-year-old woman was mauled to death by stray dogs last year.
Local people blocked the traffic in the area demanding action to curb the stray dog menace in the area. They alleged that though scores of people suffered stray dog attacks in the Kanjiramkulam area, no action was taken by the state government and the local self government.
