Thiruvananthapuram: Award-winning Malayalam hit film Maheshinte Prathikaram will be remade in Tamil by noted filmmaker Priyadarshan, according to reports. Udayanidhi Stalin will reprise the character Mahesh ‘Bhavana’, which was immortalized by Mollywood actor Fahad Faazil. Malayalam actress Namitha Pramod will be seen in the role of Jimsi, which was portrayed by actress Aparna Balamurali in Malayalam.
Maheshinte Prathikaram, directed by Dileesh Pothen, had bagged a host of national and State awards. It was a huge success in Mollywood.
Meanwhile, Priyadarshan says that the film will not be a complete adaptation of its original version, and there will be changes in the screenplay and characters. The filmmaker adds that there would be significant changes in the film that suit to the taste and sensibilities of Tamil audience.
Apart from Namitha Pramod, there would not be any Malayalam actor in the film. M.S. Bhaskar is another major actor in the film. The first schedule of the shooting for the film will begin on July 15 at Kambam and Theni.
Priyadarshan has directed films like Gopura Vasalile, Lesa Lesa, Kanchivaram and Sila Samayangalil in Tamil. His critically-acclaimed film Sila Samayangalil had been considered for the Golden Globe award.
