Kozhikode: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the synthetic track of prestigious Usha School of Athletics (USHA) at Kinalur in Kozhikode district through video conferencing on June 15.
Talking to reporters here, former sprint queen and Usha School of Athletics President P.T. Usha said the synthetic track was constructed with a grant of Rs 8.5 crore from National Sports Development Fund.
She said the 400 m eight-line track was completed under the supervision of Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and Sports Authority of India (SAI).
“The two-layer track with all allied facilities is third in the State, the other two being at Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam,” she said.
Usha, who made all out efforts to realise her dream project, said next step would be for installation of a flood light at the campus. Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goel would preside over the function.
