Pinarayi Says Govt. Ready for CBI Probe into Jishnu’s Death

Kozhikode: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said today that the government is ready to order a CBI probe into the death of Jishnu Pranoy, who was a student of Pambady Nehru College.

While speaking to reporters after visiting the CPM Kozhikode district committee office, Pinarayi said he had conveyed this to the DGP and  Jishnu’s father, adding that there are no legal hurdles in ordering a CBI probe. The CM visited the office as it was hurled with bombs by miscreants the other day.

To a query regarding the submission of letter by Jishnu’s father, Pinarayi said that Jishnu’s father had raised this demand to the DGP earlier. Jishnu’s relatives had sought before a CBI probe into his death. They had also filed a complaint in this regard.

Jishnu’s father met Pinarayi at the Kozhikode Guest House on Tuesday and submitted the letter seeking a CBI probe into Jishnu’s death.

Jishnu, a first-year engineering student, was found dead in his college under mysterious circumstances on January 6. Students across political affiliations in the college went on strike on January 10 and alleged that Jishnu had died because of torture and harassment.
