Outbreak of Fever: Opposition Leader Calls for Special Assembly Meeting

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader in Kerala Assembly Ramesh Chennithala today demanded a special meeting of the Legislative Assembly in the wake of outbreak of fever which took the lives of 124 people so far in the State.

Seeking to declare a ‘Health Emergency’ in the State, the Opposition leader alleged that the government had failed to provide sufficient health support to patients coming for treatment in various hospitals due to shortage of beds, staff and medicines.

About 12 lakh people took treatment for various kinds of fever since the last six months in the State, proving that the health department failed to take steps to stop the outbreak of fever, Mr Ramesh said in a release here.
