Kochi: Kerala Blasters Football Club (KBFC), one of the most popular teams in the Indian Super League (ISL), has appointed Thangboi Singto as Technical Director, Youth Development and Assistant Coach for the first team.
Kerala Blasters, jointly owned by cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, actors Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna, film producer AlluArvind and entrepreneur Nimmagadda Prasad, was the runners-up in the ISL 2016.
Thangboi holds an AFC Pro Licence, the highest coaching badge, which he got in 2014. Thangboi was the Assistant Coach of North East United in the ISL season one.
He had a successful stint with Shillong Lajong Football Club, where he worked with one of the youngest squads in the I-league.
Thangboi had been the Head Coach of Shillong Lajong for four seasons.
Commenting on his new role, Thangboi said: “It’s is a huge step in my career. I am looking forward to working with the team of coaches in Kerala and also the Head Coach for the first team during the ISL season. The club has some incredible plans for youth development. After more than three months of discussions about the youth development project with the management, I am convinced we have a great project.”
