Munnar High-Level Meet: Pinarayi Censures Official Lethargy

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan blamed that officials are not implementing the decisions taken by the government regarding the issues in Idukki. He said that Revenue officials delay the execution of the instructions given by him. The CM also read out the complaint given by the LDF regarding this during the high-level meeting being held at Munnar today.

Revenue Minister E. Chandrasekharan and CPM local leaders are abstaining from the meeting.

Meanwhile, Minister M.M. Mani, S. Rajendran MLA and KPCC Vice-President A.K. Mani are attending the meeting. Additional Chief Secretary, Idukki District Collector and Devikulam Sub-Collector are participating in the meeting representing the Revenue Department.

The Chief Minister instructed the officials to accept land tax of Kuthakappatta sector at Munnar after going through legal affairs.

The meeting is being held to discuss issues related to the eviction process at Munnar. The eviction was held under the leadership of Devikulam Sub-Collector Sreeram Venkitaraman, who had given notice to vacate the 22 cent land and building near Munnar police station within 48 hours on June 9.

The notice was slapped on a person, who encroached the building on the kuthakappatta land of the government. He had renovated it and used it as a home stay. The Left leaders approached the Chief Minister against this. The meeting has been convened in light of this incident.
