Thiruvananthapuram: After bagging honours in award circuits, film “Minnaminungu” (The Firefly) will hit the theatres on July 21.
Actress Surabhi Lakshmi had won National Award for Best Actress 2017 in this film.
“I am very happy that I have won this award so early in my career. I am thankful to the jury and I am happy that regional cinema is being given its due,” Surabhi had said after accepting the award.
She is the fifth female actor to win National Award in Malayalam after Sarada, Monisha, Sobhana and Meera Jasmine.
She also bagged a special jury mention for her performance in the State Film Awards and Film Critics Award.
Surabhi came into limelight after winning the reality show ‘Best Actor’ on Amrita TV. After that, she has acted in many films.
In “Minnaminungu,” she plays the role of a 45-year-old mother from Trivandrum, who is bogged down by the various issues in her life.
Directed by Anil Thomas, the script of the film is written by Manoj Ramsingh. Surabhi appears as the lead character in the movie. Actors Prem Prakash and Rebecca Santhosh also play important roles in the film.
