Kozhikode: Immigrants from Kerala have contributed immensely to the economic growth of the Gulf nations, including United Arab Emirates, Local Self Governance and Minorities Affairs Minister K T Jaleel said today.
Inaugurating an International Seminar ‘Cultural Relations Crossing the Borders: UAE and its heritage’ organized by the Calicut University near Kozhikode, the Minister said, though the influence of the Gulf nations reflected in the development of Kerala, vast contributions made by Keralites towards the economic growth of these nations cannot be ignored.
Admitting that cultural and economic relations with Arab nations influenced the progress of the state, he said they had a significant role in maintaining cordial relations with these nations.
Calicut University Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. P Mohanan presided over the function, while Darul Ysmeen Publishers Chief Dr Maryam Shenasi delivered the keynote address.
Senior Congress leader M K Ragahvan, MP, would inaugurate the valedictory function on July 12. Research Scholars and writers from India and Arab nations are attending the 3-day event.
