Thiruvananthapuram: Director Jis Joy’s second film “Sunday Holiday” will hit the cinemas on July 14. Actor Asif Ali, who dons the lead role in the film, announced the release date of the film on his Twitter page today. Aparna Balamurali is the female lead in the film.
According to Jis Joy, the film is a tribute to all aspiring filmmakers. The protagonist in the movie is an aged teacher named Unni Mukundan, played by actor Sreenivasan.
The film tells about this ordinary teacher, who dreams to see his story being made into a movie.
As the title denotes, the events in the film happen on a particular Sunday. Director Lal Jose essays the character film producer David Paul. However, the highlight of the movie is its multi-layered narrative.
Alancier also plays a significant character. The movie will also mark the debut of Aravind Venugopal, son of singer Venugopal. He has sung the melody “Mazha Padum…” along with Aparna Balamurali. Deepak Dev composes music for the film.
Jis Joy made his debut as director with the film “Bicycle Thieves.” One of the locations of “Sunday Holiday” was at Gandhinagar, Ernakulam, which incidentally was also the site of Asif Ali’s previous superhit movie “Anuraga Karikkin Vellam.” The actor has also finished shooting for “Thrisivaperoor Kliptham” recently.
