Munnar: As a domino effect of the transfer of Devikulam Sub-Collector Sriram Venkitaraman, the Revenue officials at Munnar have been transferred by the government. Four officials, including the head clerk have been transferred.
Interestingly, all the transferred officials belonged to the Sub-Collector’s team, which was assigned for the eviction process here.
According to reports, the transfers are part of the move undertaken by the local leaders of the political parties. Head clerk P. Balachandran Pillai, clerks P.K. Shiju, P.K. Soman and R.K. Siju have been transferred from Devikulam RDO.
Balachandran Pillai has been appointed as the Village officer of Kanchiyar, Shiju has been transferred to Devikulam Taluk office, Soman has been shifted to Rajakumari land registration office and Siju has been transferred to Survey Superintendent office at Nedumkandam.
Earlier, Additional Tahsildars, who were involved in the eviction process directly, were transferred to Thodupuzha. There are 12 officials in the Devikulam RDO.
After shifting the Sub-Collector, the Revenue Department had collected the details of other officers in the office. It is said that decision will be taken about other officials soon.
Former Devikulam Sub-Collector Sriram Venkitaraman was at the centre of a dispute between the CPI(M) and CPI leaderships over eviction of encroachments in Munnar.
The State Cabinet has decided to promote him and post him as Director, Employment and Training. Wayanad Sub-Collector Premkumar is the new Devikulam Sub-Collector.
