Jomon. T. John to Direct Film Based on Missing Ship Kairali

Thiruvananthapuram: Ace cinematographer Jomon. T. John is set to make his debut as director soon. Titled “Kairali,” actor Nivin Pauly will play the lead character in the film. Nivin took to his Twitter page today to announce the news. He wrote: “Announcing my new project #Kairali to be directed by my dear friend @dopjomon ! #SidarthaSiva.”

The film is based on the disappearance of Kerala’s first ship MV Kairali in 1979 in the Indian Ocean with 49 crew members.

Actor-director Sidhartha Siva will write the script. The film will be jointly produced by Pauly Jr Pictures and Real Life Works. This big budget film will go on floors in December, Nivin added in his post.

Earlier, Sidhartha Siva and Nivin Pauly had joined hands for the movie “Sakhavu.” Jomon had cranked the camera for movies like “Ennu Ninte Moideen,” “Oru Vadakkan Selfie,” “Thattathin Marayathu,” and “Jacobinte Swargarajyam” etc.

Jomon is currently busy shooting for Rohit Shetty’s “Golmaal 4.” It will also have several international locations apart from Kerala, Goa and New Delhi.
