Chennai: Rich tributes were paid to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Congress stalwart K. Kamaraj on the occasion of his 115th birth anniversary here today.
AIADMK Amma party leader and Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, his Cabinet colleagues, MPs, MLAs and former Ministers paid floral tributes to a decorated portrait of Kamaraj at his statue on the Marina beachfront.
Former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, who heads the rebel faction AIADMK PTA, along with his supporters, also paid rich tributes to the statue of Kamaraj.
Leaders of various political parties also paid floral tributes to Kamaraj at their respective party offices and elsewhere in the State.
Similar events were held across the State and also in some educational institutions.
At Vellore, VIT University Founder Chancellor G. Viswanathan paid floral tributes to a decorated portrait of the late leader.

Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy, his Cabinet colleagues, legislators and senior officials of the territorial administration were among others, who garlanded the statue of the leader on behalf of the Union Territory government to mark the occasion.
Former Chief Minister, N R Congress founder president and leader of the opposition N. Rangasamy, N R Congress legislators, Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC)President A. Namasivayam and party functionaries and leaders of different political parties, including BJP, VCK and PMK also garlanded the statue.
Earlier, rich tributes were paid to a decorated portrait of Kamaraj at the PCC office and N R Congress party office.
While Chief Minister and other Congress functionaries partook in the function at the PCC office, Rangasamy and NR Congress functionaries attended the function at the N R Congress office.
