Thiruvananthapuram: The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), the temple administrative body in Kerala, and various cultural organisations including Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) have made elaborate arrangements at various temple ghats in the state for ‘Karkidaka Vavu Bali’ that falls on Sunday.
Lakhs of people in Kerala are expected to perform ‘Karkidaka Vavu Bali’, an important ritual observed by Hindus offering sacrifice to the departed souls of their ancestors.
The ‘Bali’, a form of ritualistic homage, is offered on the first Amavasi of Dakshinayanam. On this day, thousands of people gather on the river banks and beaches to offer ‘Bali.’
All the district administrations have made elaborate security arrangements for the ritual as temples on the river banks are ideally chosen for offering Vavu Bali.
