Remarks Against Actress: Former DGP Senkumar Faces Probe

Thiruvananthapuram: The police began an inquiry into former DGP T.P. Senkumar’s ‘insulting remarks’ against the actress, who was sexually assaulted in Kochi recently.

According to sources, ADGP B. Sandhya will lead the investigation. It was alleged that the former State Police Chief made the remarks during his telephonic conversation with another person while he was giving an interview to a Malayalam weekly. While he was speaking on the phone, the conversation got recorded on the interviewer’s gadget.

Meanwhile, the interview also became controversial following his remarks on minority communities.

In protest against the former DGP’s remarks, many women organisations demanded legal action against the official in this regard.

Following the controversy, the weekly also handed over the audio to the police authority.

Earlier, in connection with the case, the former DGP had approached the High Court and secured anticipatory bail. The ADGP had given a report to the government, pointing out that Senkumar’s statement was an attack on womanhood.

The actress was attacked and abducted on February 17 this year at night while travelling in a car. Actor Dileep and another accused ‘Pulsar’ Suni are in jail in connection with the case.
