Thiruvananthapuram: Soon, safety concern would be a thing of the past for women while travelling alone in the State. The State government is gearing up to launch “One Day Homes” exclusively for women considering their safety while travelling alone, said K.K. Shylaja, Minister of Health and Social Welfare, adding that the first “One Day Home” will be set up at the Thampanoor bus terminal in the capital city.
“Women, who arrive in the city for various purposes, can spend two or three days in these homes in safety milieu. A meager amount will be charged for food and accommodation from them,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Minister also informed that the government is mulling over to set up “She Lodges” for women in district headquarters in the same manner.
Shylaja was speaking at a function organised to give away three-wheeler scooters to differently-abled people here yesterday. Around 60 people were given the vehicles at the function.
