Thiruvananthapuram: CPI(M) Kerala Unit Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said Governor P. Sathasivam’s tweet, that he had summoned Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and DGP Loknath Behra in connection with the murder of RSS Karyavah, was against the democratic and federal setup of the country.
In his article in party’s mouthpiece Desabhimani, Balakrishnan said the role of the Governor is like an advisor, and tweeting such a message should have been avoided as it leaves an impression that the Governor is playing politics.
He also criticised the Governor for summoning DGP after his meeting with the Chief Minister.
The Governor’s tweet on the DGP and the Chief Minister has created an impression that the Governor’s office was not in good relation with the State.
Meanwhile, Assembly Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan said there was nothing wrong in Governor summoning Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to discuss issues related to the law and order problems in the State.
“There is no need of interpretation of a meeting between the Governor and the Chief Minister,” the Speaker said, adding that a cordial meeting between them should not be interpreted as one authority exerting its power over the other.
The Governor on Sunday tweeted ‘summoning’ the chief minister and State police chief Loknath Behra, seeking information about the political violence in the State capital. In a series of tweets, the governor had mentioned about his meetings with Pinarayi and the DGP and the phone calls he made to the Union Home Minister and the BJP State President to discuss the issue.
