DMK, VCK Slam Attack on Rahul in Gujarat, Cong Stages Road Roko

Chennai: Leaders of the various political parties in Tamil Nadu, including the main Opposition DMK, today condemned yesterday’s attack on Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi in Gujarat allegedly by RSS-BJP activists.

DMK Working President M.K. Stalin said democratic rights of a political party could not be cowed down by violence.

Stalin tweeted “Condemn the attack on Rahul Gandhi @OfficeOfRG in Gujarat. Democratic rights of a political party cannot be cowed down violence.”

Meanwhile, workers of Congress, which is an ally of the DMK in Tamil Nadu, staged a road roko agitation in the city to condemn the attack.

TNCC President Su Thirunavukkarasar, who led a protest demonstration organised by the Mahila Congress against the proposed withdrawal of LPG subsidy by the Centre, suddenly staged a road roko agitation in front of the Valluvar Kottam.

Thirunavukarasar, along with Congress cadres, squatted on the arterial road and blocked traffic.

The Congress workers shouted slogans denouncing the BJP and blamed the saffron party for the attack on Rahul Gandhi.

Traffic on the main road was affected for some time in view of the snap agitation by the Congress. Similar agitations were held in other parts of the State also.
