Kannur: The 43rd State conference of All India Students Federation (AISF), the student wing of Communist Party of India (CPI), will be held from August 12 to 15 at Town Square, here.
Speaking to newspersons yesterday, Subesh Sudhakaran, AISF State Secretary said Kannur is hosting the State conference after 15 years and 410 selected delegates from 14 districts will attend the State conference.
CPI State Secretary Kanam Rajendran will inaugurate the student rally and public function as part of State conference on August 12.
Former JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar will inaugurate the delegates meeting on August 13 at Rubco auditorium.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the seminar “Future of Democracy and Secularism” in the evening on August 13.
The “fighters meet” will be inaugurated by CPI National secretary Panniyan Raveendran. AISF National Secretary Viswajith Kumar and renowned writer T. Padmanabhan, film director Vinayan, political and cultural leaders will address the students at various occasions in the conference.
Sudhakaran said the students’ agitation is going on across the country to protest against the fascism and communalism, so the State meet will discuss future plans for strengthening the secularism on the campuses and to strengthen the public education system of the State.
