Thiruvananthapuram: Actor Salim Kumar’s second film as director, “Karutha Joothan,” will hit the screens on August 18.
This film has fetched Kerala State Award for Best Story for Salim Kumar, who also plays the lead character in the movie, Aron Ilyahu.
Salim Kumar announced the release date through his Facebook page yesterday. The film narrates the decimation of the Jewish community and its history in Mala, Thrissur.
Ramesh Pisharady, Sivaji Guruvayoor and Usha essay other characters in the film. LJ Films, owned by director Lal Jose, distributes the movie.
Sreejith Vijayan handles cinematography. B.R. Bijuram composes music to the lyrics written by Swami Samvidananda. “Karutha Joothan” is produced by Salim Kumar and Madhavan Chettikkal.
Salim Kumar’s directorial debut was “Compartment”, which deals with the problems of special children. Meanwhile, Lal Jose’s new film “Velipadinte Pusthakam,” featuring Mohanlal in the lead, is expected to hit the theatres this month. This film also features Salim Kumar in an important role.
