Pvt Bus Operators to go on Strike on Aug. 18

Kozhikode: Private bus operators in Kerala will go on a token strike on August 18 to press their demands, including fare hike, in the State.

Announcing the stir at a press meet here, Kozhikode District Bus Operators Association Chairman Erikkunnan Hamza and Convener Thulasi Das said operators were compelled to go on agitation as the State Transport Minister had not convened a meeting to discuss the issue.

They said the Association would go on an indefinite strike from September 14, 2017 if the government continued to take an ”adamant” attitude.

Other demands included, hike in students’ fee structure, withdrawal of hiked road tax and bringing petroleum products under Goods and Services Tax (GST).
