Bengaluru: Prison officials of the Parappana Agrahara jail are in for further trouble with fresh evidence in the form of a CCTV footage of AIADMK General Secretary Sasikala coming into the prison in civil dress, was handed over by former DIG of Police D. Roopa to authorities of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
The footage, handed over by Roopa to the ACB on August 19 revealed that both Sasikala and her relative Ilavarasi carrying paper bags were walking into the jail premises wearing civilian clothes.
The CCTV clipping was part of a statement Roopa had submitted to the ACB which had sought her to reply to a questionnaire on her charges that the Central Prison officials had connived with Sasikala, currently undergoing imprisonment after being convicted in a disproportionate assets case.
Police sources said that the women police officer, who had given a detailed report on the irregularities in the Central Prison to the then DGP of Prisons H.N. Sathyanarayana Rao received summons from the ACB on July 31.
Roopa, who appeared before the ACB, was given a questionnaire and she had written response to it.
In support of their charges, she had provided 74 enclosures. Following her report about the irregularities in the Central Prison, she was shifted to the Traffic and Safety wing.
Roopa had alleged that the convicts were given special treatment apparently for pecuniary gains and that amounted to abuse of official position.
