Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami today thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for assuring all possible support for the growth of the State.
An official release here said Palaniswami spoke to Modi over phone and thanked him for the support.
Yesterday, Modi, in a tweet, congratulated O. Panneerselvam on his appointment as the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
“I congratulate Thiru O. Panneerselvam & others who took oath today’, Modi tweeted. ”I hope Tamil Nadu scales newer heights of progress in the years to come”, he added.
Modi also said: “Centre assures all possible support to CM Thiru Edappadi K. Palaniswami & Dy CM Thiru O. Panneerselvam for the growth of TN”.
Additional portfolios for Panneerselvam
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam was allocated additional portfolios on Tuesday. Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao’s office said in the statement that Panneerselvam was allocated the additional portfolios of Planning, Legislative Assembly, Elections and Passports, which were previously held by D. Jayakumar.
Jayakumar was redesignated as Minster for Fisheries, Personnel and Administrative Reforms. O. Panneerselvam was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister on Monday after the merger of the two AAIDMK factions in Tamil Nadu.
