Kathiroor Manoj Murder: CBI Files Charge Sheet Against P. Jayarajan

Kannur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today submitted a charge sheet against the CPI (M) Kannur District Secretary P. Jayarajan to the Thalassery CBI court in connection with his involvement in the murder of RSS activist E. Manoj. The second phase charge sheet in the case filed by the CBI is linked to the conspiracy behind the murder. The charge sheet names six accused, including Jayarajan.

He has also been charged with Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The CBI had earlier submitted a charge sheet at the CBI Thalassery sessions court in January 2016 that mentions Jayarajan as the 25th accused.

The CBI arrested Jayarajan in February 2016, but he got bail in March 2016. RSS leader E. Manoj, 42, was hacked to death at Kathiroor in Kannur on September 1, 2014.

A total of 25 accused including CPM Area Secretary, and Branch Secretary have been arrested so far in connection with the case. It’s said that political vendetta was the motive behind the murder. The CBI has also mentioned in the charge sheet that Jayarajan had both political and personal vengeance towards Manoj.

Manoj was an accused in the case of attacking Jayarajan after breaking into his house on August 25, 1999. The court had punished the accused in this case. Manoj was also the chief organiser of the welcome function of about 500 members, who left the CPM to join the RSS.

The charge sheet says that the first accused, Vikraman, along with other accused executed the murder masterminded by Jayarajan.

They intercepted the vehicle in which Manoj was travelling from his house at Kadirur to Thalassery at Ukkasmetta by throwing a bomb at the vehicle. Then they dragged him out of the Omni van and hacked him to death.
