Kozhikode: Abu Dhabi-based BRS Ventures’ founder Chairman Dr B.R. Shetty was conferred with the coveted P V Sami Memorial Industrial and Socio Cultural award 2017 at a function here today.
Union Minister of State for Ayush Shripad Yasso Naik presented the award at the function presided over by former Union Minister and Janata Dal (United) State President M.P. Veerendra Kumar, MP at Tagore Centenary Hall.
Addressing the gathering, Naik congratulated Dr Shetty on bagging the award by his immense contribution to industrial sector and giving employment to many people.
Hailing the Centre, he said India has become a top destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) due to many progressive measures initiated by Narendra Modi government attracting leading industrialists like Dr Shetty.
State Minister for Ports Kadannappally Ramachandran delivered the key-note address.
Former Union Minister Vayalar Ravi, Senior Congress leader M.K. Raghavan, MP, Kozhikode Mayor Thottathil Ravindran, Senior CPI (M) leader A. Pradeep Kumar, MLA, Mathrubhumi Managing Editor P.V. Chandran, P.V. Sami Memorial Trust Trustee P.V. Gangadharan, among others, were present.
A seminar on “India’s International Relations under Narendra Modi government” was also held prior to the memorial function.
The award was instituted by P.V. Sami Memorial Trust in memory of KTC Group of Companies Chairman, veteran freedom fighter and philanthropist P.V. Sami.
