Actor Dileep Submits Bail Plea in Angamaly Court

Kochi: Actor Dileep has filed a bail petition in the Angamaly Magistrate Court today. His lawyer B. Raman Pillai informed yesterday that the bail plea would be submitted on September 14.

The actor has been in jail for the last two months in connection with the case of sexual assault and abduction bid on a Malayalam actress. He has been suspected of the man behind the conspiracy.

In his bail petition, Dileep claimed that since the vital part of the investigation is nearing completion and he has completed 60 days in jail, he deserves bail.

He also assured the court that he will cooperate with the investigation. The court will consider the bail petition on September 16.

The actor also pointed out that he has strictly followed the directions of the Angamaly Magistrate Court during the two-hour permission given by the court to perform the rituals of his father’s shraadham.

Dileep was arrested on July 10. On July 15, the Angamaly Judicial First Cass Magistrate Court had rejected his bail plea.

Later, the Kerala High Court denied him bail two times. Advocate K. Ramkumar first appeared for him in the High Court. The case was later handed over to advocate B. Raman Pillai.

Meanwhile, P.T. Thomas MLA today alleged that there are efforts to sabotage the investigation into the case using the influence and money of the perpetrators.

He cited B. Ganesh Kumar’s controversial statement supporting Dileep and the frequent visits of film personalities to jail as part of the efforts to scuttle the case.
