Death Threat for State Women’s Commission Chairperson

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Women’s Commission Chairperson M.C. Josephine has received death threat through a letter.

Josephine revealed to a television news channel today that she had got the threatening letter after taking case against P.C. George MLA for his alleged lewd remarks against the actress, who was sexually abused in a running vehicle in Kochi in February this year.

She also said that following her intervention in the actress assault case, she got human excreta via postal and the letters contained full of expletives.

Josephine said the members of the recently-formed Women Collective in Cinema organization have also death threats. Meanwhile, she added that she is ignoring such acts and will go forward strongly with her decisions.

When the State Women’s Commission initiated action against him, George said that he had done nothing wrong. He also lashed out at Josephine, saying that she was playing politics against him.

Josephine had sent a letter to Legislative Assembly Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan against P. C. George MLA and expressed displeasure against the legislator stating that he had repeatedly made defamatory comments against the Commission and women.

She demanded stringent action against the MLA. Incidentally, the actress had written a letter to the Chief Minister seeking intervention against George. Josephine also called on the actress and express solidarity.
