Kasargod: A 32-year-old teacher, who eloped with a 22-year-old man after leaving behind her two children and husband from Kasargod district of Kerala a few days ago, has been traced in a religious study centre at Ponnani in Malappuram district.
Jayasree, a teacher at the Melparambu English Medium School, was taken to her native Kasargod district today by the police. According to the police, Jayasree would be produced before the Judicial Magistrate Court later.
However, Fahad is still missing. Aided by the cyber cell, the police had launched a search operation for Jayasree, who went missing since September 11, following a complaint filed by her husband.
In a similar case, the Supreme Court had directed the National Investigation Agency to probe the alleged forced conversion and marriage of a Hindu woman – a 24-year-old homeopathic doctor Akhila Ashokan aka Hadia Shafin to Shafin Jahan in last December. The direction came following a report submitted by the NIA that it was not an isolated case but part of growing trend of converting women from Hinduism to Islam.
News reports said that, earlier, the marriage was annulled by the Kerala High Court terming it as a case of ”love jihad.”
