Thiruvananthapuram: Horror flicks have had a great audience in Kerala. Prithviraj’s Ezra was the last one that had entertained the Malayalam movie buffs. Another movie is all set to follow the genre, and it has Mamta Mohandas in the lead.

Mamta will appear as a speech therapist, who is a widow and mother of a six year old, in the upcoming horror film. Other prominent roles in the movie will be handled by Anoop Menon, Baburaj, Sreekumar Marimayam and Sinil Sainudheen.
Althaf Rahman has been quoted by media reports as saying that the movie comes with humor elements and the plot revolves around Mamta. Anoop Menon plays the role of a paranormal investigator. Baburaj, Sreekumar Marimayam and Sinil Sainudheen play characters with a common goal as that of Mamta and Anoop, he added.
There are reports that the entire film will be shot in Thrissur. The movie title Neeli, resembles the 1979 horror drama, Kalliyamkattu Neeli. The plot for the movie Neeli, is set in a village called Kalliyamkadu.
